
SPEAKER'S BIOGRAPHY
Dr Joseph Schwartz
Joseph Schwartz, PhD, is a supervisor and training therapist at The Bowlby Centre, London. Formerly an experimental physicist at the University of California, he then trained in psychoanalysis in New York and London. He has a specialist interest in the history of both psychoanalysis and science and is the author of the books Einstein for Beginners (1990), The Creative Moment: How Science Made Itself Alien to Modern Culture (1992) and Cassandra's Daughter: A History of Psychoanalysis in Europe and America (1999). He was the founding editor of the journal Attachment - New Directions in Psychotherapy and Relational Psychoanalysis (published by Karnac) which seeks to make a contribution to attachment approaches to clinical work.
