Confer - continuing professional development, seminars and conferences for psychotherapists, counsellors and psychologists
CONFER'S ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Learning in communities, meeting together and supporting each other's work in groups is essential for the development of one's clinical work. However, we are aware that conferences make an impact on the environment. In recognition of current concerns about global warming, Confer has developed a policy to help to reduce the ecological impact of our events.

WHAT WE ARE DOING
We have begun by estimating the amount of carbon dioxide produce by Confer's activities. This currently totals about 50 tonnes per year, and will be reviewed annually.
  • In partnership with the Woodland Trust we are planting 250 trees this year to help to sequester this CO2 and have planted 440 trees since January 2007.
  • Confer's flyers and handouts are printed on paper which is recycled or from sustainable sources. We send email news and brochures to those who request these as a more environmentally friendly way of distributing our information.
  • Participants are offered incentives to travel to our events by public transport.
  • We request our caterers to provide locally sourced, organic, non-GM food whenever possible.
  • The Confer office is run on a green electricity tariff.
HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
We have begun by estimating the amount of carbon dioxide produce by Confer's activities. This currently totals about 50 tonnes per year, and we be reviewed annually.
  • Check how much CO2 is emitted by your journey by using the carbon calculator.
  • You can be directly involved by covering the cost of dedicating a new tree at each event to help offset the emissions resulting from your participation. Forms are available at our registration table and one of our staff will explain how it works.
  • You are encouraged to take public transport to Confer events if possible
  • You are invited to take home any paper, plastics or other disposable materials and to recycle them.
  • Please let us know if you would be happy to receive our publicity by email rather than post.
